Dear Parents/Guardians,
A copy of your child’s Ontario Provincial Progress Report (Grade 1-8) or Kindergarten Communication of Learning: Initial Observation will be coming home today. These reports provide students, teachers, and parents/guardians with an opportunity to reflect upon the progress made to date and to discuss plans to promote future success.
The Ontario Provincial Progress Report Card (Grade 1-8) provides a description of general progress towards development of the six learning skills and work habits as well as progress towards achievement of curriculum expectations. In determining the student progress or comments assigned in the report, teachers employ a variety of assessment and evaluation strategies to gather and document evidence of how your child is performing in relation to the Ontario curriculum. All work is reviewed by our teachers with special attention given to the quality of work at the end of a unit of study or term.
The Kindergarten Communication of Learning: Initial Observation is designed to identify and describe the child's learning during the fall of the school year and to provide parents/guardians with clear, detailed, and straightforward information about their child's learning, growth in learning, and next steps in learning in relation to the overall expectations in The Kindergarten Program.

Teachers are responsible for the specific comments and assessments on your child’s report. If you have any questions related to the comments or assessments, please contact the classroom teacher directly. For your convenience, parent-teacher conferences are scheduled for Thursday, November 16, 2023, from 3:30pm – 5:00pm and 5:30pm – 7:00pm, and serve as an excellent opportunity to discuss your child’s progress and ways in which we can support them in working to their fullest potential. If you wish to schedule a conference time, please do so by booking online using the information provided last week or by calling the school.
