WCDSB Update – Elementary PD Day Reminder, Catch Up Payments for Parents

Dear Parents/Guardians,
Please see the following important reminders and information concerning the October 24 Elementary Professional Development Day as well as recent Ministry of Education announcements.
October 24 Elementary PD Day – This is a reminder that all elementary schools will be closed on Monday, October 24 to students. Staff will be engaged in professional learning activities on this day. We look forward to welcoming elementary students back on Tuesday, October 25, 2022.
Ministry of Education Announcement – On Thursday, October 20, 2022, the Ministry of Education made a series of announcements related to their Plan to Catch-up. Included in this announcement was information regarding Catch Up Payments for parents. The payments offer families direct financial support to support their children. Families of students in publicly funded, private, First Nation/federally-operated or home-school settings will receive financial support. Students (up to 18 years old) can receive $200 per child, while students with special education needs (up to 21 years old) can receive $250.
Families can apply for Catch Up Payments through a secure website where they can create a unique profile for each eligible student and check the status of their application throughout the process. Ministry of Education Ventilation Information – The Ministry of Education has requested that all school boards communicate information about ventilation improvements made in schools. Enhancements and improvements information was previously communicated in September communications and can be accessed here: https://www.wellingtoncdsb.ca/apps/pages/ventilation
